Research & Reports

Charities Institute Ireland, along with our sector partners, carry out research in the charity sector on the issues and topics which matter most to our members. View our recent research below.

Benchmark Fundraising and Data Survey

We are delighted to share the findings from Charities Institute Ireland’s first Benchmark Fundraising & Data Survey — the largest of its kind in our sector. This landmark research begins to close the data gap that has long limited our ability to plan, collaborate, and grow.

With responses from 176 organisations representing €444m in fundraised income, €1.93bn in total income, and over 31,000 employees, the results highlight the sector’s hunger for insight and shared progress. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

2026 Pre Budget Submission

Charities aren’t a “nice-to-have” – they are one of Ireland’s biggest economic engines, employing more people than construction and generating over €25 billion annually. Yet the sector continues to face rising costs without the structural supports that every other industry takes for granted.

In our Budget 2026 submission, Charities Institute Ireland makes the case for urgent reform – from core funding to VAT relief, digital investment, and a national giving campaign. The message is simple: investing in charities is investing in Ireland’s future.
