Drinkaware Winter 2023 Research Briefing

Drinking behaviour and attitudes among adults in Ireland – key trends and patterns
26 Oct 2023

Drinkaware is pleased to invite you to join their Winter 2023 Research Briefing on Wednesday 15th November, featuring John O’Mahony, Director, B&A, delivering the keynote presentation, followed by a Q&A.

Date: Wednesday 15th November 2023
Time: 11am
This event will take place online via Zoom

Talk title: Drinking behaviour and attitudes among adults in Ireland – key trends and patterns
This presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of key findings from Drinkaware's latest Barometer survey that was conducted by Behaviour & Attitudes during July and August 2023. This research was undertaken in order to provide an overview of adults’ drinking behaviours in Ireland and to their attitudes and motivations regarding alcohol. Collectively, extensive data gathered since commencement of the Barometer series in 2017 allows for an annual examination of drinking practices over time and how they relate to other practices within daily life. Part of this presentation will thus provide vital evidence on the potential legacy of COVID-19.

Speaker Biography:
After graduating from Trinity College, Dublin with a degree in Business Studies, John O’Mahony gained experience in financial services before joining brand consultancy Alexander Dunlop where he managed and consulted on international research projects in the UK, Germany, India and USA.

Since joining B&A in 2004, John designs and manages both qualitative and quantitative research for clients. The ability to deliver a dualist research approach and perspective is a feature he finds particularly rewarding. He specialises in complex quantitative research with large samples and the application of a range of statistical analysis techniques. In addition to his technical skills as a researcher, he is an experienced project manager.

John’s research for B&A has been nominated for a series of research awards for his work with the Road Safety Authority, RTE Performing Groups and Tourism Ireland. The blending of economic analysis and market research has been a feature of John’s work, including projects with Fáilte Ireland on the economic contribution of Festivals; with Dublin City Council on the socio-economic impact of Croke Park on the local community; and the contribution of the horse racing industry to the Irish economy.

Attendance at this event is free. Register via Eventbrite by 13th November 2023:

All registered participants will be sent an email with instructions on how to attend the briefing via Zoom.

The views expressed in our Research Briefing Series are those of the speakers, based on their work in research and other disciplines.
