Tadhg Fleming calls on cyclists to join team JACK AND JILL on Ring of Kerry Cycle

Join social media star & Kerry man Tadhg Fleming as he tackles the 170km Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle on July 4th, supporting over 500 families with Jack and Jill. Together, let's make a difference!

Speaking at the announcement of his participation Tadhg commented, “It’s a sin a Kerry man hasn’t done the Ring of Kerry yet… but it’s about time I did it! I’m absolutely delighted to be taking it on for Jack and Jill, a charity very close to our hearts. Dad has done it a few times and told me it’s a piece of cake… so we’ll soon find out about that!”

Tadhg continued, “I’d love to see plenty of people jump on the saddle this July and join me and take in the unbelievable scenery the Kingdom has to offer - it’ll be worth the sore bottoms! I might need a push or two getting up the hills, but there’ll be plenty of craic along the way and it’s all for a brilliant cause. Every euro raised will go towards helping families who really need the support.”

Among those who understand first-hand the importance of this support is Tralee mum Anna Walsh, whose family receives in-home nursing and respite support from Jack and Jill for her youngest daughter Róisín, who lives with Angelman syndrome - a rare neurogenetic condition that causes severe developmental delays, seizures, mobility issues and little-to-no speech.

Anna and her husband Brian Morrissey live just outside Tralee with their daughters Róisín and Connie. The family returned home from Australia in 2023 to be closer to family following Róisín’s diagnosis and were referred to Jack and Jill shortly afterwards.

“Jack and Jill has made such a difference to our family life,” says Anna. “The hours of in-home nursing care we receive mean I’m able to work, which is massively important for our family. It gives us breathing space, practical support and reassurance when things are overwhelming.”

Anna says their family already knows first-hand what an incredible event the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle is, with family members having taken part previously in support of Jack and Jill.

“We’ve had family members do the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle before and they absolutely loved it. It’s such a brilliant day out and there’s an amazing atmosphere from start to finish,” she says. “But what makes it even more special is knowing the difference the fundraising makes to families like ours. Every kilometre cycled helps provide care and support that families genuinely rely on.”

This year, Tadhg is encouraging cyclists of all abilities to sign up and join him as part of Team Jack and Jill. The hugely popular Kerry content creator, known for his humour and community spirit, will take on the full 180km challenge to help raise awareness and vital funds for the charity.

The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation provides in-home nursing care and respite support for children with severe learning disability often associated with complex medical needs up to the age of seven, giving families precious time, support and space to cope with the challenges of caring for a seriously ill child at home. There are currently 14 families in Kerry alone that are currently receiving this vital support which can only be delivered by the support of people taking part in events like this.

Jack and Jill is delighted to once again be a charity partner of the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle, one of Ireland’s largest and most celebrated fundraising events. Last year alone, the event raised €1,190,620 for charities nationwide and an incredible €20.9 million for charities since it began.

Now, the charity is calling on people to sign up, take on the challenge and cycle with purpose as part of Team Jack and Jill this July.

Every kilometre cycled and every euro raised will help provide vital in-home nursing care and respite support for more than 500 Jack and Jill families across Ireland.

Those who join Team Jack and Jill can enjoy:

  • A guaranteed spot in one of Ireland’s biggest charity cycles
  • The unforgettable experience of cycling the Wild Atlantic Way
  • Training and fundraising support every step of the way, including help setting up fundraising pages, expert training plans and access to Team Jack and Jill WhatsApp and Strava groups
  • Expert training tips and advice from Coral Leisure personal trainers, including access to training and recovery videos, plus a live online Q&A session in the lead-up to the event.
