On 23rd October, charity CEOs gathered at the Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge for an inspiring event, "The Power of Human Inclusion," featuring keynote speaker Paul Anderson-Walsh, CEO of Enolla Consulting. Supported by our valued partners at PayPal Giving Fund Ireland, the event invited leaders across the sector to explore a new, deeper understanding of inclusion in the workplace, with insights that reached beyond professional boundaries.
Paul Anderson-Walsh’s keynote, Unlocking Everyone’s Potential Through Human Inclusion, led attendees through some of the most pressing and complex aspects of inclusion, challenging conventional thinking and presenting transformative perspectives on creating truly inclusive environments.
Fitting Together Versus Fitting In
One of the key topics discussed was the difference between “fitting in” and “fitting together.” Anderson-Walsh encouraged attendees to reflect on how organisations often prioritise conformity over individuality, leading to environments where people feel pressured to suppress their authentic selves. The concept of “fitting together” offered a powerful alternative, emphasising harmony and mutual respect. Leaders left inspired to create spaces where each unique contribution strengthens the organisation.
Inclusion for All, by Us All
Another insightful segment underscored that inclusion is not a passive state but an active, collective process. Rather than a one-off initiative, Anderson-Walsh framed inclusion as a shared responsibility for everyone. Attendees explored ways to empower their teams to engage actively in building a culture of openness, equity, and belonging.
The Pivot: From Viewing Humans as Resources to Resourcing Humans
Perhaps the most transformative idea of the day was the shift from viewing humans as resources to recognising the importance of “resourcing” them. Anderson-Walsh advocated for creating environments that prioritise psychological safety and well-being, allowing individuals to thrive and unlock their full potential. Attendees were inspired to support their teams’ growth, recognising that resourcing people leads to innovation, resilience, and a vibrant organisational culture.
Building a Community of Inclusivity Advocates
The event concluded with a call to action, encouraging CEOs to champion inclusivity within their own organisations. Leaders discussed practical ways to integrate these insights into their strategies, aiming to turn their charities into models of inclusivity within the sector.
The Power of Human Inclusion event, with the generous support of PayPal Giving Fund Ireland, sparked impactful conversations and provided invaluable insights, encouraging charity leaders to see inclusion as an ongoing, collective journey. For those in attendance, the day was a pledge to create workplaces where everyone’s potential is unlocked, and the true power of human inclusion shines through.
