Tax Back Appeal – Helping to Bridge the Gap in your Fundraising Income

Cii Supplier Member iDonate discuss their online CHY3/4 solution.

Increase Efficiency, Maximise responses from Charitable Donations Tax Relief Scheme

Charities across Ireland are feeling the impact of Covid-19 crisis with major events cancelled or postponed. Some are looking to alternative virtual events while others are looking to developing smart Tax Back appeals. iDonates’ fully approved eSigning service allows donors complete and sign CHY3 forms online. Creating a smart Tax Back appeal using this service can be a simple and low-cost campaign to roll out which will help bridge the gap in charities fundraising income.

In 2019, iDonate approached Revenue seeking approval to create an online version of the CHY3 and CHY4 forms. After initial meetings with Revenue, iDonate were asked to develop a prototype for our solution. With the support of Minister for Charities Seán Canney TD who backed iDonate in bringing about this solution, our eSigning solution was fully approved by Revenue and led to a major change in how charities can run Tax Back Appeals.

How eSigning Works.

1) Tax Back eMail Appeal – No printing, signing or posting required.

     a. Reach out to all qualifying donors over the last 4 years many of whom are not aware of the Charitable Donation Scheme.

     b. Give each donor a unique smart link to your website where you’ve embedded your custom CHY3 online form.

     c. Donor sees a partially pre-filled CHY3 form (their data from the smart link).

     d. Donor completes the required fields and signs the form online.

     e. Charity receives email notification of signed form and downloads securely.

2) Point of Donation

iDonates’ eSigning Service also allows donors sign a CHY3 or CHY4 form at the point of donations. This completed form is sent securely by email directly to the charity for processing. No printer, signing or posting required.

On the charity’s website, you create a call to action or redirect qualifying donors to the partially pre-populated form after a donation. You can also create follow up emails to remind donors to complete these forms. This method is quick to implement and can result in significantly increasing your CHY3 returns without the need for following mailings.

iDonates’ eSigning service is quick to setup. Use your creative thinking to deliver campaigns which drive previous qualifying donors back to your website to complete CHY3/4 e-forms.

A simple but extremely powerful solution
