Charities Institute Ireland has announced a new strategic partnership with Free Wills Network Ireland aimed at supporting more charities to grow their legacy fundraising and benefit from the increasing generosity of people choosing to leave gifts in their wills.
Legacy giving is one of the fastest-growing areas of philanthropy in Ireland, with more charities now benefiting from gifts left in wills. Through this partnership, members of Charities Institute Ireland will have greater access to expertise, practical guidance, and events designed to help them develop and strengthen their legacy fundraising programmes.
Katie Roberts, Business Development Manager at Free Wills Network Ireland, welcomed the collaboration.
“We’re delighted to partner with the Chartered Institute of Ireland with the aim of supporting more charities in their legacy fundraising journeys. Legacy giving is growing rapidly in Ireland, both in value and variety of different charities receiving gifts, the Free Wills Network can help your charity to benefit from this growth.
We connect your target audience to their local participating solicitors offering accessible, high-quality will-writing services that help turn good intentions into measurable actions.”
Many members of Charities Institute Ireland are already part of the Free Wills Network, including RNLI, Sightsavers, Focus Ireland, UNICEF and Cork Simon, demonstrating the growing interest in legacy fundraising across the Irish charity sector.
Mark Hughes, Director of Communications and Membership at Charities Institute Ireland, said legacy giving represents a significant opportunity for charities across the country.
“Legacy fundraising remains a hugely untapped source of funds for many charities in Ireland, yet it has enormous potential to support long-term social impact. We’re really looking forward to working with the Free Wills Network as part of this partnership.
Legacy giving sits at the heart of philanthropy — it reflects people’s desire to make a lasting difference beyond their lifetime. We can’t wait to get stuck into the partnership and to deliver some great legacy-focused events and learning opportunities for our members.”
The partnership will see both organisations collaborate on sector events, knowledge-sharing, and practical supports aimed at helping charities build sustainable legacy programmes and encourage more people across Ireland to consider leaving a gift to charity in their will.
