Setting the Standard: Cii’s First Triple Lock Members of 2026

Applications for the 2026 Triple Lock are now open to all Cii members.

We are delighted to congratulate Arthritis Ireland, Dental Health Foundation, Epilepsy Ireland, FoodCloud, Irish Wheelchair Association, National Breast Cancer Research Institute and Neighbourhood Network as the first members to achieve the Triple Lock Standard in 2026. Achieving the Triple Lock is not just about meeting a standard. It reflects a deep commitment to doing things well and doing them transparently for your donors, beneficiaries, staff and the wider public.

What is the Triple Lock and why does it matter?

The Triple Lock Standard is Ireland’s benchmark for best practice in charity governance and fundraising. For funders and donors, it provides confidence and reassurance that an organisation is well‑governed, transparent and accountable. For stakeholders and partners, it signals credibility and professionalism.

In an environment where trust matters more than ever, the Triple Lock acts as a powerful trust‑building tool, helping organisations clearly demonstrate their values and standards in action.

Turning accreditation into impact

To support members in making the most of their Triple Lock achievement, Cii is hosting a dedicated online masterclass for Triple Lock organisations. This session is designed to help members communicate their achievement clearly, confidently and authentically to donors, stakeholders, staff and service users.

Participants will explore how to move beyond the badge itself and use the Triple Lock as a meaningful part of their organisational story, strengthening reputation, reinforcing transparency and building donor confidence.

The session will support participants to:

  • Understand what the Triple Lock Standard means and why it matters to different stakeholder groups
  • Craft clear, honest and engaging messaging around their Triple Lock achievement
  • Explore best practice in internal and external communication about governance and fundraising standards
  • Respond confidently to stakeholder questions and concerns
  • Develop a communication strategy that reinforces transparency and accountability

Applying for the Triple Lock

Last year we introduced an online application process for the Triple Lock Standard. Please note that this application system is separate from the main Cii website and requires a dedicated log‑in.

Given the governance focus of the Triple Lock, the application should be completed by the CEO or a suitable senior executive who has a strong understanding of the organisation’s governance structures, fundraising practices and accountability arrangements.

Once again, congratulations to our first Triple Lock members of 2026. We look forward to supporting many more organisations as they work towards achieving and confidently communicating this mark of excellence.
