Lidl Ireland is launching a new €100,000 Lidl Green Fund to award and empower local communities across Ireland to implement impactful local community projects that positively contribute towards environmental challenges across climate, biodiversity, circular economy, and sustainable living.
The Lidl Green Fund is part of Lidl’s commitment to customers and the communities it serves by supporting community led sustainability projects. By providing funding for sustainability initiatives, Lidl aims to kick-start and support local community driven projects that focus on the environment and sustainability.
Charities, primary and secondary schools, and community groups from every county can now apply for the Lidl Green Fund which offers a top award of €25,000 to a lead project or initiative, with a further €75,000 allocated to multiple smaller projects regionally.
Speaking at the launch of the Lidl Green Fund, Elaine O’Connor – Head of Sustainability at Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland – said: “As Ireland’s most sustainable retailer, Lidl knows we have a responsibility to educate and support our customers and the communities in which we operate to lead more sustainable lives. With a network of over 180 stores in Ireland, we want to use our reach into local communities as a real force for good and the launch of the new Lidl Green Fund is our latest initiative designed to move us forward in the journey towards A Better Tomorrow”.
