In advance of the next General Election being called, Cii have launched a General Election Manifesto which includes our proposals for inclusion in (Party)’s Programme for Government.

This is a crucial time to ensure that the voice of the sector is heard, and that the role it plays and the challenges it faces are understood. Our Election Manifesto outlines our proposals aimed at building capacity, resilience and trust in order to combat the big social issues facing us today.  We believe that a collaborative approach with policitcal parties delivers better policy and better results.

As an important economic contributor, it is vital that charities have sufficient and sustainable resources to operate in the most effective way. Investing in Charity governance and compliance is an investment in the resilience of an important economic and social sector, an investment in the delivery of key policy areas, and an investment in people and communities across the country.

Our asks for our the next Government are as follows:

  • Include the cost of Governance and compliance in all funding agreements.
  • Create a dedicated fund, modelled on the VAT refund scheme for charities to meet the cost of governance and compliance.
  • Create a tax credit for Charity Trustees.
