Charity Sector News |
Although the legislation was enacted in Summer 2024, the introduction for this scheme has been delayed again, with a projected start date now of September 2025. This may be welcome news for some, but getting ready now is the best option. While many of our members already make pension contributions (over 85% of organisations in our 2022 BDO Salary Survey), there are still a number of steps to make to ensure that your organisation is ready for this change.
In partnership with Mercer Ireland, we recently held in-person workshops in Dublin and Cork on the finer details of what this scheme will mean for charities. The implementation of the scheme requires communication and engagement with employees, and this has been difficult to do when the start date keeps changing and not all scheme details are available, to say nothing about how the employer contributions will be funded. Some Cii members have already changed provisions in their existing schemes and their payroll systems to be ready, but many still have work to do.
If you didn’t have the chance to attend the Dublin or Cork workshop, please contact us at info@charitiesinstitute.ie and we will send you the workshop presentation which has a useful step by step timeline to be ready by the start date.
We’ll keep members updated on this important topic.
