Ecclesiastical Insurance Ireland, in partnership with its parent company, the Benefact Group, is once again opening its heart and wallet to support the incredible work of Irish charities. This year, a generous €500,000 is up for grabs through the Movement for Good 2024 large grant awards, aimed at funding projects that will leave a lasting legacy in our communities.

Applications for the large grants of €10,000 or more are now open and close midnight on Friday 2 August.

Charities supporting education and skills, rural or community development, heritage, arts or culture, and climate change or environment are invited to apply online at: www.movementforgood.com/largergrants/

This funding, which can be utilised over three years, supports both project and core funding costs, providing charities with the flexibility they need to dream big and achieve even bigger.

The Movement for Good Awards have been a beacon of hope for numerous Irish charities. With donations starting at €1,000 following public nominations and special grants of €5,000, these awards have already supported many in local communities. Last year, three Irish charities received large grants in excess of €15,000: Kids' Own Publishing Partnership in Sligo, Jigsaw, the National Centre for Youth Mental Health and A Sense of Cork Midsummer Arts Festival in Cork.

David Lane, Managing Director for Ecclesiastical Insurance Ireland, added: “We recognise the vital need for longer-term funding in the charity sector, especially when it comes to bringing ambitious new ideas to life and initiating transformative projects. Through our large grants, we are not just offering financial support, but a lifeline to innovation. We empower charities to turn creative ideas into practical solutions that profoundly benefit society.

“Last year, over 900 charities applied, and we were thrilled to support three remarkable Irish winners with donations totalling over €46,500. This year, we aspire to extend our reach even further and urge all eligible charities in Ireland to apply online before the 2 August deadline.”

Since the introduction of the Movement for Good awards in 2019, Ecclesiastical Insurance and the Benefact Group have already donated over €540,000 to charities and good causes across the Island of Ireland and are committed to making a positive impact by supporting a diverse range of causes.
