Acquired Brain Injury Ireland Welcomes Karen Foley as New CEO

New Chief Executive Officer of Acquired Brain Injury Ireland has been announced

Karen Foley has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Acquired Brain Injury Ireland (ABI Ireland). This appointment marks a pivotal moment for ABI Ireland, as Karen steps into this leadership role after having served as Head of Service Operations since 2021.

Karen Foley's promotion to CEO reflects her outstanding contributions and leadership within ABI Ireland over the years. With a strong commitment to improving the lives of brain injury survivors, Karen has established herself as a respected figure not only within the organisation but also across the broader sector.

One of Karen's key objectives as CEO is to advocate for equitable access to rehabilitation services and support for families affected by brain injuries throughout the country. Her deep understanding of the challenges faced by brain injury survivors, coupled with her dedication to the cause, positions her perfectly to lead ABI Ireland into its next phase of growth and impact.

As part of her new role, Karen will be visiting various ABI Ireland services to engage directly with teams and gain insights into their work on the ground. These visits will enable Karen to further align the organization's efforts with the needs of those it serves.

The appointment of Karen Foley comes following the remarkable tenure of Barbara O'Connell, who led ABI Ireland with vision and compassion for an impressive 23 years. Barbara's legacy is celebrated and appreciated within the organization and the wider community.

Additionally, ABI Ireland extends gratitude to Pat Bennett, who served as Interim CEO during the transitional period.

Charities Institute Ireland congratulates Karen Foley on her appointment and looks forward to witnessing the positive impact she will continue to make in advancing ABI Ireland's mission.
