The Charities (Amendment) Bill was published on 23rd December and incorporates changes to how charities will be regulated. We were pleased to see that several of the proposals we made on the original Heads of Bill have been incorporated in the latest draft, but concerns remain.
We made a further joint submission with The Wheel in February, again with legal support from Mason Hayes & Curran, to the Department on the proposed legislation and held a joint webinar with over 400 attendees (watch it again here).
The Bill is due back to the Oireachtas in mid-April and a meeting is scheduled with the Department to discuss the submission and the impact that the Bill could have on our sector.
