The recent €345m fine imposed on TikTok by the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) for breaches related to the processing of children's data is a stark reminder of the importance of data protection and compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). However, data breaches and violations of children's privacy are not the only concerns charities should be aware of. In the last month alone, three companies and a charity were found guilty of sending unwanted marketing messages, highlighting the need for organisations to take GDPR compliance seriously.
Cii believe that investing in GDPR compliance is essential for charities. Not only does compliance help avoid hefty fines and reputational damage, but it also ensures that charities operate in a transparent and accountable manner, respecting the privacy and rights of individuals.
That's why we are excited to share an opportunity for charities to learn more about how to navigate the complex world of data protection and GDPR compliance.
Charities Institute Ireland is offering a one day masterclass in Dublin and Cork that covers a range of important topics, including good governance, subject access requests, data compliance, donor experience, data cleanliness, data breaches, data segmentation and targeting in CRM, and avoiding unwanted marketing messages.
