Charity Sector News |
Firstly, a big thank you to members for completing the recent NFP Research Survey on this important topic.
There was a fantastic response, with 99 member organisations providing details of the potential impact that restrictions in this legislation could have on their fundraising efforts.
We are still analysing the public survey data, but from initial results, it’s clear that the public view charity raffles and lotteries as a very benign form of gambling with minimal harm.
They also believe that charities should be regulated differently to commercial betting companies, reflecting their belief that giving is the primary motivation when engaging with charity events.
We will meet with several members of the Select Committee later in June to present our findings and to make our case before the legislation is debated again in early July.
Thank you to members who have agreed to attend the meetings to explain how their organisations will be impacted.
We look forward to keeping you updated.
