23 charities are now part of the Legacy Insights research consortium. They each provide detailed data on legacy income and this is combined into a report. The second report is now out and a summary is available to any charity interested in and ambitious to grow its legacy income. The report includes figures for average bequest amounts – on average overall and for pecuniary and residuary specifically, the male/female breakdown, how much income is unrestricted and more.

Separately, Campaign Solutions is undertaking a very short legacy survey to Cii Members and more. It looks at staff resourcing for legacy. It’s a big issue. The one minute survey is at https://survey.sogolytics.com/r/HXCxtW
Based on information from the 2021 accounts of 90 charities, legacy income in 2021 was up 25%, so resourcing is becoming more and more important for charities seeking to increase their annual income.
