The Charities Regulator Stakeholder Forum provides a structured environment for charity trustees to engage with the Charities Regulator. It’s a space where trustees can exchange views, ideas, and information on matters that fall under the Regulator’s remit, such as emerging issues, regulatory trends, and priorities (note: policy matters are not within the scope of this forum). Following a successful pilot phase and valuable feedback from participants, the forum is being established on a more permanent basis.
This forum is designed to ensure that a range of perspectives are heard and considered when developing guidance and regulatory materials. It also offers the Regulator valuable insight into the day-to-day realities that charity trustees face in managing their organisations while adhering to regulatory obligations.
If your charity has a trustee who would like to represent your perspective and contribute to discussions about the challenges and opportunities facing charities, this is a great chance to get involved.
Membership Details
The Charities Regulator strives to ensure that the forum reflects a diverse cross-section of the charity sector, including various charitable purposes, sizes, legal structures, and geographical areas. Charities of all sizes are encouraged to nominate a trustee. For example, more than half of charities in Ireland operate with volunteer-only staff.
Nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee, which includes the independent chair of the forum, a member of the Charities Regulator’s board, and a senior management team member from the Regulator.
How to Apply
To find out more and to nominate a trustee, please visit the Charities Regulator's website. Nominations are open from Tuesday, 11 February, and must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, 25 March 2025.
This is an excellent opportunity for charity trustees to help shape the future of charity regulation in Ireland.
