GoFundMe is the world’s largest social fundraising platform, where people come together to quickly give and receive help. Our reach is global, but we take immense pride in our European base in Ireland. For the past five years, Ireland has been GoFundMe’s most generous country in terms of donations per capita.

Since launching our charity product at the end of November 2021, we have seen an incredible outpouring of support for Irish charities. Over €15 million has been raised, demonstrating the dedication and generosity of charity supporters across the country. With more than 6,000 fundraisers created, it's clear that supporters are actively choosing GoFundMe to champion their causes. This significant activity showcases the vast opportunities available for Irish charities on our platform.

To fully leverage this support, we strongly encourage Irish charities to sign up to GoFundMe to access donor and fundraiser data in real time. This will help you engage more effectively with your supporters and optimise your fundraising efforts.

Getting started is simple:

  1. Visit Our Sign-Up Page: Go to https://www.gofundme.com/charity-sign-up.
  2. Search for Your Charity: Find and select your charity from the list.
  3. Create Your Account: Use the email address you want to associate with GoFundMe to set up your new account.

Once your account is created, we’ll guide you through the confirmation process. This involves filling out a form to provide more information about your connection to the charity, ensuring that all charity data remains secure and accessible only to authorised representatives.

Understanding how funds are delivered is crucial for your planning. All funds raised on a charity fundraiser are sent to our payment partner, PayPal Giving Fund, which processes and delivers the donations directly to your charity. We advise enrolling with PayPal Giving Fund to expedite this process and to gain access to detailed payout reporting.

Here’s how you can enroll:

  1. Create a PayPal account or make sure that your existing PayPal account is upgraded to a business account here: https://www.paypal.com/bizsignup
  2. Once you've set up your PayPal Business account, you'll need to confirm that your PayPal account belongs to a charity. Becoming a confirmed charity with PayPal also allows you to qualify for PayPal's special discounted charity rate. You can confirm your charity's status by visiting this link: https://www.paypal.com/charities/getstarted (After you submit, PayPal will review your documents and reply by email within five business days.)

After you receive an email verifying that your charity status has been confirmed with PayPal, your charity will be reviewed for enrollment with PayPal Giving Fund. If you are eligible, you will receive an additional email within approximately 2 business days. This email will confirm your successful enrolment with PayPal Giving Fund Ireland.

The process ensures that your charity receives funds efficiently and securely, allowing you to focus on your mission.

The Irish community's support for charities on GoFundMe is truly inspiring.  We can help you unlock new opportunities for growth and engagement with your supporters via your GoFundMe donors.
