The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Individuals Giving fundraiser to lead the delivery of the donor acquisition programme for UNICEF Ireland. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing, fast paced and best in class team who have delivered exceptional growth over the last number of years.

The successful candidate will drive the recruitment of regular giving and cash donors across a full suite of fundraising channels.

This role would best suit someone who is results focused, creative, and agile.

Responsibilities:

1.    Strategic development of the Acquisition Programme, including;

  • Oversight of acquisition programme strategy, considering journeys from brand building, through prospecting and to donation.
  • Management of both cash and pledge/regular giving acquisition portfolio, to maximise income, ROI, and 6 month retention, across channels such as DRTV, Face-to-Face, Radio, Press, Inserts, Door Drops, DM and OOH.
  • Deliver across a balanced portfolio of channels to manage risk and return.
  • Strategic deployment of emergency campaigns to maximise income for children.

 

2.    Financial planning, monitoring and reporting, including;

  • Leading annual budgeting process for the pledge/regular giving programme, ensuring a plan is in place to meet income targets with available investment.
  • Ensuring all pledge/regular giving activities are effectively tracked and monitored, with timely reporting on performance.
  • Supporting investment funding applications and processes where appropriate.
  • Reporting for Board on performance, every two months.

 

3.    Appeal production, including;

  • Responsibility for activity to recruit new pledge/regular giving and cash supporters – including the identification of priority audiences.
  • Agency performance and relationship management.
  • Fundraising quality and compliance with privacy/data regulation.
  • Creative briefing, content research, copy-writing and proofing.
  • Targeted and effective media planning.
  • Work closely with the digital team to ensure coordinated approach to digital acquisition, content marketing, including website.

 

4.   Innovation, including;

  • Ensuring an up-to-date understanding of the wider market, and developments that could positively impact the programme at UNICEF Ireland.
  • Develop new products that drive fundraising efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring campaigns are designed with space for robust testing.

 

5.   Line Management

  • Responsibility for managing line report to achieve clear objectives.
  • Oversight of a development plan for line report – and ongoing support to progress in development priorities.

 

6.   Emergency and Ad Hoc work

  • Some out of hours work required for fundraising response to major crises.
  • Occasional support required to cover tasks of other team members during period of absence.

 

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an Individuals Giving fundraising role.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of acquisition channels, in particular DRTV, Face-to-Face and Direct Mail.
  • Proven revenue generation track record.
  • Experience of managing relationships with external suppliers to maximise performance.
  • Excellent data analysis skills and campaign evaluation skills.
  • Experience of managing a fundraising budget.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Creativity, idea generation and problem solving skills.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Very strong attention to detail.
  • Experience of developing welcome journeys and associated activities to maximise donor retention.

 

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working in the international aid sector
  • Experience of delivering OOH and ABL activities
  • Strong copy writing skills
  • Experience delivering digital fundraising campaigns
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics
