Would you like to work with one of Ireland's leading Charity Non-Profit organisations that makes a real difference in your local community? NCBI is Ireland's national sight loss agency and our mission is to support the 55,000 blind and vision impaired people living across Ireland to overcome the barriers that impede their participation in society. We aim to support and empower our people to push for breakthroughs in public mindsets and structures to ensure that people experiencing visual impairment and blindness can live to their full potential. The range and the level of sophistication of services provided by NCBI has grown significantly in recent years. In parallel, the need for a dedicated quality function across NCBI's Services to support its specialist services is now mission critical to the provision of effective, efficient and quality assured services across the organisation.

NCBI is currently seeking to recruit a National Quality and Standards Manager who will report directly to the NCBI Chief Services Officer or other designated officer on all matters relating to the post. The National Quality and Standards Manager will have operational responsibility for the quality, risk and safety of services across NCBI through effectively managing, measuring and monitoring the quality of services being provided to blind and vision impaired people and their families across a number of sites. The National Quality and Standards Manager will provide consistent and robust evidence to showcase that NCBI's disability focused services are well led, governed, person centred, safe and effective. This is a brand new role whereby the successful candidate will have overarching responsibility for leading continuous improvement in service user quality of care and through appropriate quality and risk management standards development and management.

The initial focus of the role is to actively develop and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement by developing, managing and leading out on the quality improvement processes across NCBI directorates, some of which include:

·        NCBI Eye Clinic Liaison Officer Services (Acute Outpatient Services - Based at CHI Temple Street and Crumlin, Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital, Mater Hospital and Cork University Hospital).

·        NCBI's Specialist Lifecycle Services (Community Based Services - Children's and Young Persons, Employment/Training and Adults Services)

·        Day and Hub Services (Community Services - New Directions Interim Standards)

·        Counselling, Well-Being and Emotional Support Services (Remote)

·        Sports and Recreation (Vision Sports Ireland) (Community)

·        Other NCBI related projects

The role will focus on risk management whereby the successful candidate will work in partnership with NCBI staff to promote participation in the Quality & Risk Programmes, keeping the service user/patient and their family as the centre and focus of quality improvement efforts.

Risk identification, proactive risk identification, risk reduction through clinical/non clinical incident investigation using recognised investigative tools and education for all staff on risk management issues and innovative management and governance initiatives are an integral part of this post.
