Pieta Centre in Waterford are currently recruiting for a sessional therapist to provide 8 hours of cover per week on a short term basis.

Experience working with clients aged 12+ is required for this sessional role.

Location: 20 Waterside, Waterford City

Salary: €55 per hour, €20 DNA/CSN

Hours: 2 days per week (4x hour shifts)

Contract: 4-month sessional contract 

 

Educational requirements:

(i) A recognized qualification at minimum Level 7 or higher qualification on the NQAI framework in Counselling or a Level 9 in Counselling Psychology.

AND

(ii) Be fully accredited as a Psychotherapist / Counselling Psychologist with one of the following accrediting bodies: Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP), Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP), Family Therapy Association of Ireland (FTAI), National Association of Professional Counselling & Psychotherapy (NAPCP), Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI), Irish Council of Psychotherapy (ICP), British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), Irish Association for Play Therapy & Psychotherapy (IAPTP), Association for Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy in Ireland (APPI), Association of Professional Counselling & Psychotherapy in Ireland (APCP).  

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct face to face risk & suitability assessments and implement risk management plans as appropriate
  • Provide evidence informed, brief, strengths based & goal focused interventions
  • Work in accordance with Pieta's Policies, Procedures and Guidelines
  • Liaise and consult with other professionals in supporting the client as required
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of practice using Salesforce
  • Participate in external clinical supervision and attend group supervision internally in Pieta once per calendar month
  • Contribute to research, audit and evaluation of the service as required
  • Fulfil obligations as per the Children First Act 2015
  • Comply with responsibilities under the Data Protection Acts 1988, 2003 & 2018 (GDPR)
  • Ensure compliance with any necessary on-going psychotherapy registration requirements
  • Maintain professional and personal boundaries
  • Participate in team meetings and attend other meetings as deemed necessary
  • Share information with the Lead Therapist, Regional Manager, Pieta team and other services as appropriate in accordance with good practice

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience of working with adults and adolescents in crisis intervention and suicide bereavement
  • Knowledge of Brief Solution Focused Interventions, CBT etc.
  • Ability to reflect on practice in order to facilitate personal learning, professional development and service improvement
  • Demonstrate great warmth and the ability to empathize
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team
  • Strong time management skills and capacity to prioritise competing demands
  • Ability to consult, liaise with other services as required
  • Ability to foster good working relationships with external agencies and organisations
  • Build relationships with clients using the Pieta House Models of Therapy
  • Work within the ethos and philosophy of Pieta House
  • Liaise with clients and their families as appropriate with regard to assessments, outcomes, interventions and reviews
  • Receive ongoing supervision
  • Actively participate in Pieta House internal meetings e.g. staff meetings, clinical meetings as appropriate
  • Periodically liaise with other professionals and organisations as appropriate
  • Take responsibility for one's own continued professional development
  • Keep up to date with best practice and procedures at all times in line with the Code of Ethics of IACP, IAHIP, PSI, FTAI or equivalent

 

Note: Garda Vetting is required (of the successful candidates) for these positions.
