Salary: €100,000 - €120,000 depending on experience.
BACKGROUND
The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) is a postgraduate medical training college committed to excellence in medical education, public health, and healthcare leadership. With a network of 12,000 members, fellows, and trainees in 90+ countries, the RCPI supports doctors at all career stages and shapes healthcare policy.
As it prepares to launch its 2025-2029 strategy, RCPI is committed to strengthening its public engagement, philanthropy, and partnership activities. A key initiative is the development of a Medical Museum at No. 6 Kildare Street, which has secured museum status and planning permission.
To lead this work, RCPI is now seeking a Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships to establish and drive a new development function.
THE ROLE
This role will be crucial in enhancing RCPI's profile, building relationships, and securing funds to support key initiatives, including the development of RCPI's Medical Museum. The Director will collaborate with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Museum Board to drive fundraising efforts and build a network of individual donors, philanthropic and corporate partners and explore state funding opportunities.
Key responsibilities will include devising and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, managing relationships with corporate partners, individual donors, and philanthropic foundations, and leading a major capital campaign to deliver the RCPI Medical Museum. The Director will also oversee the development of donor proposals and grant applications, ensuring all governance and legal requirements are met. The role requires effective leadership in stakeholder engagement, managing both internal and external communications to maximise fundraising efforts, and tracking progress against targets.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader with a proven track record in philanthropy, stakeholder engagement, and income generation. A background in the not-for-profit, corporate, education, or cultural sectors is preferred, with strong project management skills and the ability to influence at senior levels. If you're a strategic leader with experience in philanthropy, major donor and corporate engagement, and building high-value impact-driven partnerships, we'd love to hear from you!
