Location: Dublin City Centre

Type of Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Primary Purpose: Focus Ireland has developed an ambitious strategy to - prevent homelessness from ever occurring and to provide effective support and solutions for those who do become homeless.

This function is responsible for Focus Ireland's public fundraising portfolio. This role is strategically important and delivers approximately 33% (€5.2m for 2024) of the organisations fundraising target, including regular giving, cash and digital.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, the Head of Individual Giving will deliver on income, implement growth and retention strategies, and develop a team of professional fundraisers.

What you will do:

  • Contribute to the development of Focus Ireland's Fundraising strategy.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of the organisation's Individuals Giving strategy.
  • Advance and refine acquisition and engagement strategies to achieve annual income, growing both the cash and regular giving file.
  • Implement a donor development plan to deepen engagement, map and test donor journeys to reduce attrition and increase lifetime value.
  • Use a data-led strategic approach to all supporter development and acquisition strategies.
  • Oversee all public fundraising campaigns to deliver on agreed targets and KPI's. Cultivate an integrated approach across fundraising, digital and marketing to enhance core campaigns.
  • Track and monitor external developments in Individuals Giving to identify emerging opportunities and gaps in order to course-correct strategy, if appropriate.
  • Lead the individual giving team to develop a strong team culture, providing training and support through operational plans, one to ones and annual Performance Development reviews.
  • To work with the other Fundraising Department Heads to maximise integration across the team to achieve optimum results.
  • Based on strategic needs, work with senior management across the organisation to agree themes for individual Giving campaigns.
  • Develop relationships with the agencies employed to help deliver programmes of activity.
  • Collaborate with the wider fundraising and marketing team to enhance activities and maximise opportunities across the team.
  • Develop donor journeys with your colleagues across all fundraising functions.
  • Partnering with Communications and Advocacy team to build Focus Ireland brand, develop awareness and engagement, and plan key PR and social media for Focus Ireland fundraising campaigns.
  • Manage third party external agencies and supports that are required to deliver the activities to represent Focus Ireland in the best light.
  • Set and manage the annual Individuals Giving budget.
  • Management of team costs and expenditure budgets ensuring all activity is implemented within budget and within defined cost ratios.
  • Coordination of reports to determine viability of each channel of the fundraising portfolio.

What you will need:

  • Typically, 3-5 years' proven experience of managing large and complex direct marketing supporter programmes, regular giving programmes, and of managing large marketing budgets (across all channels).
  • Highly developed leadership, management, communication and team building skills.
  • Champion collaborative working and be able to implement change.
  • A proven fundraising manager with vision, insight and track record of delivering results.
  • Strongly analytical with a proven track record in data-led approach to supporter development or large-scale database management and direct marketing experience.
  • Strategic planning skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, skills in producing evaluations, reporting on objectives and interpreting analysis and insights.
  • A track record of meeting financial targets with management experience of setting, monitoring and reforecasting on budgets.
  • Competence in IT systems including Microsoft Office. Experience of using appropriate IT suite and level of programmes associated with the role including databases and digital platforms.
  • Undertake relevant work delegated by the Director of Fundraising and Marketing.
  • Hold a relevant third level qualification or equivalent in work experience.

The successful candidate will need to show reasonable flexibility in relation to hours of attendance to meet the needs of the work. Work during weekends, evenings and unsociable hours may be required at times.
