FUNDRAISING MANAGER - Job Description

Background

CBM Ireland is an international development organisation, committed to improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in the poorest countries of the world. As part of a small but energetic and enthusiastic team, the Fundraising Manager reports to the CEO and is a member of the Senior Management Team. The Fundraising Manager will lead the fundraising team and fundraising strategy of CBM Ireland.

The Fundraising Manager will:

-     Lead, motivate and drive the Communications and Fundraising team to achieve overall organisation objectives and targets.

-     Identify and execute strategies and plans to generate and increase revenue income for the organisation through individual giving, direct marketing campaigns and corporate and major donor engagement.

-     Generate original and creative ideas for campaigns and activities that capture the imagination of the media and the public alike.

-     Support the strategic development of all external and internal communications including campaign management, public relations, online communications, and advertising.

The core elements of the role will be to manage CBM Ireland's public fundraising through regular appeals to committed givers, acquiring new givers and growing the portfolio of regular givers, optimising investment in the short and long term. The Fundraising Manager works with and oversees two fundraising officers, providing support and direction. The Fundraising Manager will work closely with the Advocacy Manager and the CEO in setting the direction and coordinating CBM Ireland's communication strategy. The Fundraising Manager will liaise with colleagues across the CBM Global family, contributing to international decision making, and represent CBM Ireland with stakeholders in Ireland.

Duties & Responsibilities

-     Develop, lead, manage and monitor CBM Ireland's individual giving strategy and activities, building income across all streams - cash and regular giving, legacy giving, online giving, mid- and high-donor giving.

-     Manage, oversee, support and develop Fundraising Officers (currently x 2) and interns/volunteers as required;

-     As part of the Senior Management team, support the CEO in developing organisational direction and reporting to the Board of Directors as well as reporting to the Fundraising, Advocacy and Communications Board sub-committee as required;

-         Manage a large direct marketing programme, developing creative with external suppliers - copywriters, designers, print and fulfilment houses;

-         Maintain and grow existing donor base and lead on donor acquisition to achieve annual targets and KPIs;

-         Raise the income required to achieve the agreed targets in a cost effective and sustainable manner;

-         Ensure a culture of quality service to donors by maintaining a high quality and standard of donor care, donations and data processing, maintenance and reporting;

-         Develop and monitor annual budgets, devising and implementing adjustments to both as necessary to achieve targets and optimise revenue and return on investment;

-         Analyse results, interpret trends, and deliver strategic marketing direction in the development of fundraising activities as a result of learnings;

-         Input into development and delivery of our digital and social media strategy, supporting the Fundraising and Digital Marketing Officer;

-         Ensure all activities comply with CBM's policies and procedures, relevant professional codes of conduct and standards, regulation and legislation governing charity activities including GDPR;

-         Coordinate with CBM Global Member Associations to maximise resources and innovative marketing products and to share ideas, information and learnings;

-         Manage two staff through regular meetings and the annual performance appraisal process

-         As part of CBM Ireland's Senior Management Team (SMT), contribute to CBM Ireland's strategic development

Person Specification

A collaborative leader with the vision to inspire and motivate your team to deliver high-impact activity across a range of disciplines;

At least four years' solid, demonstrable experience and successful track record at senior level in fundraising;

At least two years' experience managing a high performing direct mail programme;

Experience in setting up and overseeing a (monthly) regular-giving programme;

Strong financial management skills, and experience in optimising income and expenditure budgets.

Excellent communicator with the ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships at all levels;

Proven ability to work on own initiative, manage budgets, deliver results and achieve targets;

Technical knowledge and experience in direct marketing, digital platforms and database management. Experience of working with Salesforce an advantage.

Excellent organisational skills and experience of managing a varied workload;

Proven experience in managing resources, leading and motivating staff;

Proficiency in using Excel and donor database/CRM systems and social media;

Excellent written skills and a creative flair

A keen interest in overseas development and understanding of the not-for-profit sector as well as fundraising trends and challenges 

Salary:                €50,000 to €60,000 per annum, depending on experience

Contract:             Full-time permanent contract after successful completion of six-month probationary period

Work hours:       Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week, with flexi-time and hybrid working options upon completion of six-month probationary period.

Annual leave:     25 days per annum
