Depaul wishes to recruit to the following role:

Communications and Advocacy Manager

Cross Border Role.

Dublin based with hybrid working options available

Full time 35 hours per week

Permanent

Salary: €56,790 per annum

 

  1. Role:

 

To support Depaul's strategic plan by implementing our Communications Strategy to grow brand awareness and support through public relations, marketing and digital marketing, as well as developing Depaul's Advocacy strategy and related activity.

 

2.   Key Areas of Responsibility:

 

·        Responsibility for driving implementation of Depaul's successful communications strategy, including media, PR, marketing, and digital marketing.

·        Develop Depaul's Advocacy strategy and oversee activity with regard to public affairs, research, policy and campaigns.

·        Management of proactive and reactive media work and ensuring that appropriate plans are in place.

·        Developing communications and marketing strategies and plans that cover the full mix of communications and marketing tools, including media and public relations, internal communications, brand marketing, advertising, and digital media.

·        Implementing a PR and marketing strategy to build brand awareness, market services, promote income generation, employer branding, communicate programmes, activities, and impact.

·        Oversee all internal and external research reports that highlight the needs among those affected by homelessness and the professionals who work with them.

·        Responsible for brand management, including brand awareness and adherence to brand and corporate identity guidelines.

·        Oversee the design, production and dissemination of marketing and communications collateral, including annual reports, strategic plans, Depaul Research reports and other publications.

·        Oversee the work of the Digital Marketing Specialist, to ensure the implementation, operation, monitoring and review of the organisation's digital strategy, including social media management and website maintenance and development.

·        Provide regular information and reports to the Director of Fundraising and Communications, Chief Executive and Board of Trustees, as required, including attending management meetings as required.

·        Work collaboratively with the Fundraising and Communications Department and all other internal and external stakeholders.

·        Act as an Ambassador for Depaul's Values, at all times demonstrating and promoting Depaul's values through your work and across communications.

·        Lead and provide strategic direction on the new communications and advocacy strategy with the Director of Fundraising and Communications.

 

The above list is not exhaustive; additional areas of responsibility may be added over time and

flexibility to cover for other staff roles is required from time to time.

  1. Person Requirements:

 

·        Educated to degree level or equivalent experience that demonstrates ability.

·        Relevant Communications/Advocacy/Marketing/PR qualification.

·        At least two years' experience of working successfully in a senior role within a not-for-profit or communications/advocacy/PR/ marketing environment.

·        A proven track record of successful communications, advocacy PR campaigns and activity.

·        Excellent and engaging communications (oral, written and presentation skills).

·        Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

·        Ability to devise, implement and develop long-term plans and strategies.

·        Ability to think strategically and creatively regarding the long-term development of communications, advocacy, and marketing work.

·        Ability to produce high quality written reports.

·        Excellent IT skills and computer literacy, ideally with an understanding of effectively utilising CRM systems and graphic design tools.

·        Ability to develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with partner organisations and key communications and advocacy stakeholders.

·        Desirable, but not essential: Experience of working within the homeless services sector.

·        Experience of managing / overseeing research projects.

·        Experience of utilising data analysis tools to inform policy papers and key reports.

·        Previous management experience is desirable, but not essential. Depaul provides management and leadership training opportunities, including our Values in Leadership Programme with Depaul International Group.

 

*Experience at lower levels will be considered if the candidate can demonstrate an extensive knowledge or strong transferable skills in key areas, alongside and willingness and desire to learn in order to advance their career.

 

 

4.   General Requirements

 

·        While the line manager is specified above, this does not preclude other senior roles from directing or reviewing work or setting dotted line collaborative working relationships between same or different level positions.

 

·        All tasks should be completed in an accurate manner and supported by a clear electronic and hard copy filing system, as appropriate.

 

·        All post holders are required to participate in internal / external meetings as required, including regular supervision and annual appraisal.

 

·        All post holders are required to ensure that all Depaul Ireland policies and procedures are being adhered to, in particularly those relating to health and safety, code of practice and confidentiality.

 

·        All post holders are required to carry out their duties in a professional manner maintaining a high-quality standard of work and always working in accordance with the aims, values and ethos of Depaul Ireland.

 

·        As Depaul Ireland is an all-island organisation, regular liaison and collaboration with staff of the Northern Ireland office is required.
