Mission Statement: Cork ARC Cancer Support House is a voluntary organisation and registered charity established to provide a holistic centre in which people with cancer their families can find emotional support and practical help. Our aim is to provide therapies that compliment the medical model, so as to make a difference to the lives of those affected by cancer.

Job Title: Head of Services, full time, permanent

Reports to: General Manager

Manages: Services team both staff and volunteers in both our Cork & Bantry centres.

Core purpose(s): Lead, develop and manage Cork ARC's Services team (staff, volunteers, counsellors and touch therapists) to plan, develop, deliver and manage Cork ARC's Client Services offering. Provide management support to the General Manager.

Principle duties and responsibilities:

Services Management

• Plan and deliver a best in class portfolio of Cancer Support Services across Cork ARC's estate (in-house and online)

• Continuously review and develop Cork ARC's services in a changing environment to ensure day-to-day services run smoothly, and to a high standard

• Annual Service Budget Planning & support with management of Grants and funding applications

• Overall responsibility for smooth running of Cork ARC's Centres and Online offering 

• Overall responsibility for Services Marketing & Communications planning and delivery (internal and external)

• Overall responsibility for management of Cork ARC relationships with clients and Healthcare providers

• Develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders

 

Wider Services Team Management

 

• Directly supervise and line manage the Services team staff, and overall responsibility for counsellors, therapists and volunteer management

• Develop a performance management culture as well as clear communication of the team's progress in meeting its performance objectives

• Plan and organise the resourcing of volunteers to meet the demands of clients and the service

• Develop and maintain robust volunteer and staff induction and training processes, ensuring up to date compliance with legislative changes and government recommendations

• Manage administrative elements, including contracts, therapist invoices, etc.

 

Administration

• Overall management of services budgets ensuring monitoring, reporting and review of same

• In conjunction with the General Manager ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare of clients, volunteers, therapists and staff is prioritised and implement and review health and safety and other procedures in all locations

• In conjunction with the General Manager review, manage and update all relevant policies, procedures and handbooks as required, involving relevant parties where necessary

• Ensure overall facilities are maintained to a high standard and risks are assessed and remedial action taken where necessary 

• Work with colleagues on relevant funding applications 

• Ensure good governance and compliance with necessary monitoring bodies (HSE, NCCP, Charities Regulator, HSA, etc.) and report.

 

Measurement & Evaluation

• Carry out a regular review/audit of services to monitor impact, client attendance and satisfaction, effectiveness and efficiency. Optimise as appropriate.

 

• Complete administrative, compliance and service delivery reports 

 

• Oversight of client management system and service delivery systems

 

• Complete service evaluation and outcome reports for funders

 

External and internal communications:

• Liaise with Services and Fundraising & Marketing team members across the organisation, General Manager, and Board

• Liaise with Volunteers, Therapists and Clients

• Liaise and jointly work with cancer support services in the field nationally (and internationally if necessary) -cross changing information, knowledge and best practice (e.g. NCCP, IPSON, ICS affiliates)

• Liaise with external contractors and service providers

 

Qualifications or experience required for the role:

• Minimum of 4+ years' experience leading & inspiring a busy team to deliver results in a healthcare or related industry. Ability to implement change.

• Third level qualification in Nursing, Social Care, Health, Psychology or allied healthcare discipline

• Experience in positively engaging with stakeholders within and external to the organisation

• Experience positively managing resolving conflicts

• Experience managing a range of services within a budget; budget planning, management and review

• Knowledge of Health and Safety compliance and risk management 

• Understand compliance needs and standards in the voluntary or related sector
