Job Purpose

The Senior Fundraising Executive (Direct Marketing), within the Individual Giving Team will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimising GOAL's direct marketing activities across multiple channels to support the growth of the Individual Giving programme and generate sustainable unrestricted income.

Working closely with the Individual Giving Manager, the successful candidate will lead the delivery of fundraising appeals, newsletters, donor acquisition, reactivation, and upgrade campaigns across direct mail, email, and digital channels. The role will play a key part in strengthening supporter engagement, improving donor retention, and maximising donor lifetime value.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Direct Marketing Campaign Management

  • Plan and deliver Individual Giving fundraising campaigns across online and offline channels.
  • Manage integrated fundraising appeals, including emergency appeals and supporter newsletters.
  • Coordinate the production and delivery of campaign materials across multiple channels.
  • Deliver donor acquisition, reactivation, and upgrade campaigns.
  • Develop campaign plans, briefs, and timelines to ensure projects are delivered effectively and on schedule.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, agencies, printers, and external suppliers to deliver high-quality campaigns.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Fundraising, Communications, Global Citizenship, and other departments to develop engaging supporter communications and fundraising propositions.

Income Generation and Performance

  • Support the achievement of Individual Giving income targets.
  • Manage campaign budgets and contribute to income forecasting.
  • Monitor campaign performance and provide analysis, insights, and recommendations.
  • Track return on investment and key campaign performance indicators.
  • Identify opportunities to improve campaign effectiveness, donor retention, and income growth.

Donor Insight and Segmentation

  • Use donor data and insights to inform campaign planning and decision-making.
  • Work with CRM and reporting tools to identify target audiences and optimise supporter journeys.
  • Develop segmented communications to maximise engagement and fundraising performance.
  • Support testing and learning initiatives to improve campaign outcomes.

Project and Supplier Management

  • Manage relationships with agencies, printers, mailing houses, and other external suppliers.
  • Ensure campaigns are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Support procurement and supplier review processes as required.
  • Maintain accurate campaign records and reporting documentation.

Strategic Development

  • Support the delivery of Individual Giving growth plans.
  • Contribute to fundraising strategy development and annual planning.
  • Identify opportunities to increase donor acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.
  • Support fundraising activities linked to key organisational priorities and campaigns.

Compliance and Best Practice

  • Ensure all fundraising activities comply with GDPR, fundraising regulations, and organisational policies.
  • Promote best practice in supporter communications and donor stewardship.
  • Ensure accurate recording, monitoring, and reporting of campaign activity and results

 

Requirements

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience delivering direct response fundraising, direct marketing or comparable customer marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience working with customer, supporter, or donor databases/CRM systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics, Access CRM, Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, or similar.
  • Ability to analyse campaign performance and use insights to improve results.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience managing external suppliers and agencies.
  • Good budgeting and financial management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Understanding of GDPR and fundraising compliance requirements.
     

Desirable

  • Experience in Individual Giving fundraising.
  • Experience managing direct mail campaigns.
  • Experience using email marketing platforms.
  • Knowledge of donor acquisition, retention, and supporter journeys.
  • Understanding of digital fundraising and paid digital channels.
  • Copy writing skills.
