Assistant Accountant 

Contract:   2 Year Fixed Term Contract 

Based:      Dublin, Cork or Galway - with some travel within Ireland

Salary:     €32,500 - €42,000 per annum

JOB PURPOSE  

The Assistant Accountant will support the Finance Team by carrying out a range of accounting and analytical tasks. This role requires strong financial acumen and attention to detail. It is suitable for a qualified Accounting Technician or a part qualified Accountant who is actively working towards full qualification.  

JOB DESCRIPTION  

The Assistant Accountant will report to the Financial Controller and will be responsible for a broad range of administration, management accounting, financial reporting, and bookkeeping duties. The role involves collating, preparing, and analysing financial information to support financial governance and ensure accurate and timely reporting.  

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS  

• Manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions in accordance with departmental processes and procedures  
• Record all transactions in the various ledgers in order to maintain an accurate set of accounts  
• Prepare monthly payment run schedules using Asana 
• Complete monthly Bank and Credit Card reconciliations   
• Issue PO numbers in line with company Finance policy and manage all related queries  
• Assist in the preparation of monthly Management Accounts Pack 
• Assist with finance, governance and compliance administrative duties as required 
• Management of Employee expenses in line with Staff Expenses Policy, dealing with any queries and recording of all related transactions onto ledger  
• Support the annual insurance renewal process 
• Support other day-to-day Finance Team activities  
• Support HR with the collection of employee timesheet data and the calculation of TOIL and employee hours
• Carry out other reasonable duties appropriate to the role, as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE  

• An Accounting qualification (or pursuit of this qualification) and/or at least 1 - 2 years'  experience as an Accounts Assistant or Accounting Technician.  
• A good understanding of basic accounting principles  
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills 
• Ability work to strict deadlines.  
• Experience using Microsoft Office including outlook, excel, and word  
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.  
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn and a proactive approach to work.

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE  

• Experience in using Accounts IQ or similar accounting package  
• Experience using Asana and Salesforce 
• Ability to read, interpret and apply established internal procedures and policies. 
• Understanding of charity governance and compliance 
• Experience / understanding of charity SORP.
