Job Purpose

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Donations Officer to join GOAL's Finance team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring all donations received by GOAL are accurately recorded, reconciled, and administered, supporting the organisation's ability to maximise the impact of donor contributions.

Working closely with our Fundraising department, the successful candidate will help ensure the efficient management of donation income across a range of payment channels while providing a professional and positive experience for donors. This is a varied role that requires a high level of accuracy, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.

The role can be particularly busy during emergency appeals and key fundraising campaigns, requiring flexibility and a proactive approach to work.

**The role requires onsite attendance five days per week, with the option to move to a hybrid working model after the probation period**

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Accurately process all donations in the GOAL CRM database; reconcile CRM records to bank statements; post summary donation data to Sage and perform reconciliations between Sage and CRM.
  • Manage daily transactions using online banking, payment processing systems, and donation platforms.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations in line with Finance timelines.
  • Prepare and lodge cheques and cash to the bank.
  • Process credit card donations, including handling donations over the phone.
  • Facilitate in-person donations, engaging professionally with donors visiting the office.
  • Process recurring donations, including direct debits and standing orders.
  • Maintain effective and collaborative communication with Fundraising and IT teams.
  • Support the completion of month-end activities in accordance with Finance schedules.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of tax claims relating to donations.
  • Manage office petty cash.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a finance or administration role.
  • Excellent interpersonal, telephone, and written communication skills.
  • Strong reconciliation and data accuracy skills.
  • Experience identifying issues or anomalies and taking appropriate action.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with internet banking and payment collection applications.

Why Join GOAL?

  • Contribute to the work of a respected humanitarian organisation.
  • Develop your finance and administration skills in a role with exposure to reconciliations, CRM systems, and financial processes.
  • Work closely with Finance, Fundraising, and IT teams in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment.

We strongly encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every single requirement listed. At GOAL we welcome people of all abilities and want to ensure that our hiring and interview process meets the needs of all applicants.
