Each year, we reach thousands of people with education, information, and advice focused on cancer prevention and early detection, as well as providing support services and financial assistance to those living with and beyond cancer.

As part of the new Strategic Plan , the Foundation's ambition is to further develop sustainable income sources, and this role will be integral to this objective.

Role Overview

The Marie Keating Foundation is seeking an experienced and organised individual to join a small, collaborative and highly effective fundraising team. The individual will play a key supporting role in helping to achieve ambitious fundraising targets and to ensure sustainability and growth during the next five years.

This role is ideal for a highly motivated person with experience managing a portfolio of national fundraising and community events. You will be responsible for the management and delivery of the Foundation's flagship fundraising events to continued excellent standards as well as the development of new events, identifying and securing new sponsors and partnerships to contribute to income and supporter growth objectives.

You will work closely with colleagues across Communications and Fundraising, as well as with nursing team and the CEO.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic

  1. Develop a three-year Flagship and Community event strategy encompassing income growth targets and implementation plans for the Foundation.
  2. Lead on the annual budgeting process for Flagship and Community events and sponsorships collaborating closely with the Director of Development, Finance Manager and CEO.
  3. Identify new community groups and partnerships across the country to run community fundraisers for the Marie Keating Foundation and to support existing events.
  4. Develop stewardship plans for all event corporate sponsors, community groups, charity partners, patient and celebrity ambassadors ensuring engagement and support from across the organisation to help implement and achieve event objectives.

 

Operational

  1. Oversee the overall coordination, reporting, and scheduling of key MKF Events including e.g. '100K in 30 Days' Challenge, Celebrity Golf Classic and Christmas Lunch ensuring event goals and objectives are met within agreed timeframes, scope and resource requirements.
  2. Proactively manage, monitor and report on income and cost budgets.
  3. Responsible for managing and developing the Fundraising and Community Events officer in implementing support for community fundraising events throughout the year.
  4. Develop and maintain a suite of up-to-date high-quality presentations, merchandise and support materials including online assets to support community events.
  5. Develop and maintain effective data capture in the Foundation's CRM system of event and community donors and supporters.
  6. Manage supporter journeys for organisers and donors of community fundraising events ensuring all supporters feel valued and understand the impact their support is having.
  7. Oversee the management of Third Party Community platforms used by supporters to maximise engagement, income and data capture.
  8. Work closely with the Head of Individual Giving to develop and implement new cashless and online payment methods to facilitate effective donations at community level.
  9. Propose recommendations and suggested improvements for effective event delivery.

 

Other Responsibilities

  1. Work with other Foundation team members to undertake other reasonable work-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time as required.
  2. Collaborate with key stakeholders across the Foundation as appropriate.
  3. Abide by all organisational policies, codes of conduct and practice.
  4. Strong understanding of GDPR legislation and impact on donor acquisition and stewardship.
  5. Act in the best interests of Marie Keating Foundation at all times and in accordance with our mission and vision.

 

Qualifications

Education

  1. Third Level Degree in Business, Marketing or similar discipline and/or suitable accredited fundraising qualification such as a Diploma in Fundraising.

 

Experience

  1. A minimum of 3 years' experience of managing large scale events in the Charity or Corporate sector.
  2. Strong track record of achieving income targets, building relationships, and effective stakeholder engagement.
  3. Experience of budget creation; management of event income and cost control of expenditure budgets.
  4. Experience of recruiting and managing key partnerships / supporters and negotiating commercial contracts and agreements.
  5. Experience working with CRM systems to manage data, reporting, and supporter engagement.

 

Skills and Competencies

  1. High degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  2. Excellent organisational and management skills to meet specific deadlines
  3. Excellent communication skills and an enthusiastic, warm friendly manner.
  4. Ability to build, maintain, and develop effective partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
  5. Commercial awareness and strong negotiation skills.

 

Desirable

  1. An up-to-date knowledge of the charity sector and key fundraising trends and developments desirable.
  2. A full, clean driving license and willingness to travel around Ireland.
  3. A valid residency permit with the right to work and live in Ireland.

 

Work Environment

  1. This position is based at the Marie Keating Foundation's office in Dublin with a hybrid working model (minimum 1 day onsite per week) and reports to Director of Development.
  2. Permanent full-time contract (subject to successful completion of a 6-month probationary period).
  3. Working days a Monday to Friday.
  4. Flexible working hours: 8 hours of work per day with 1-hour lunch break. Start anytime between 8:00–10:00 and finish anytime between 16:00–18:00.
  5. Occasional travel may be required for event management and stakeholder engagement.
