 About This Role

The Data Officer is responsible for maintaining and analysing fundraising, financial and performance data on the DCUET's CRM system (Raiser's Edge NXT). 

 Reporting to the Development Services Manager (DSM), this role is critical in ensuring data integrity, implementing best practices for data health and hygiene, and leveraging analytics to drive performance and provide actionable insights. Working closely with staff across DCUET, and other DCU departments, this role directly supports DCUET's fundraising strategy.

 Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the position include:

 Database administration and development

Undertake day-to-day database administration tasks to maintain and improve the accuracy and consistency of information on the Raiser's Edge NXT database including: 

  • Input and maintain comprehensive and accurate records on alumni, donors, potential new supporters and other stakeholders
  • Continuously and proactively improve the quality of the data on NXT including data cleansing work and quality control checks
  • Work with the Communications team and Individual Giving Manager to produce mailing lists for events, mailings and campaigns
  • Ensure all data recorded is compliant with GDPR/data privacy regulations
  • Develop and document policies and procedures to ensure data consistency and best practice
  • Keep up to date with new RE NXT features and developments and make recommendations for improvements
  • Provide support to all users of the CRM system, as required

 Gift Administration

Responsible for all aspects of gift administration including:

  • Processing donations in a timely and efficient manner to maintain an up-to-date and accurate record of all financial transactions. 
  • Working with the finance manager and fundraisers to ensure appropriate and prompt acknowledgement of gifts
  • Working with the Individual Giving Manager to monitor donor retention and identify lapsed/lapsing donors

 Reporting, Insight and Analysis

Analyse and report on fundraising activity in relation to KPIs and targets including:

  • Manage a suite of dashboards and reports using RE NXT and other Business Intelligence Tools
  • Track the progress of prospects, projects and proposals to understand performance trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Provide actionable insights and present business intelligence from analysis and reports to inform strategic decision making
  • Work closely with the fundraising team to understand their reporting needs

 Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of working with fundraising software and CRM systems at a strategic level (experience of Raiser's Edge and Mailchimp would be an advantage)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience of data analytics and visualisation tools (e.g. Microsoft Power BI or Tableau) and the ability to translate insight into practical recommendations. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex datasets or concepts to a wide audience
  • Meticulous approach to data integrity/quality
  • Experience of processing charitable donations or other financial information accurately and promptly
  • Capable of working with sensitive information with complete confidentiality
  • An enthusiastic and proactive attitude
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues across multiple teams as well as working independently
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Third level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role

 Essential Training

The postholder will be required to undertake the following essential compliance training: Orientation, Health & Safety, Data Protection (GDPR) and Cyber Security Awareness Training. Other training may need to be undertaken when required.

 Package:

  • Salary range: €40,000 to €43,000, dependent on experience
  • Annual leave: 24 days pro rata
  • Contract term: This position offers a 1-year, full-time contract term with a 6-month probationary period.  The role offers longer-term prospects to be reviewed further to the completion of the 1-year contract term.
  • After the completion of one-year continuous service, employees of the Trust are entitled to join the DCU Educational Trust Pension scheme, and avail of a bi-Annual Employee Health Screening Check-Up Hybrid working policy available

 Additional Information

Please note this role does not meet criteria for a Critical Skills permit as stipulated by the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment.
