ActionAid Ireland is now seeking a Policy & Advocacy Officer (paternity cover) for nine weeks cover on a part-time basis (3 days a week) to support the following key projects:

Political engagement on climate justice:

  • Working with allies and politicians to progress our campaign focus on addressing harmful and polluting private finance flows to fossil fuels, including background research, political engagement and analysis
  • Working with networks such as Stop Climate Chaos Coalition to achieve greater government action on climate change
  • Working with the ActionAid federation on its climate justice campaign Political support for overseas aid and women's rights:
  • Effective and constructive political engagement with the Oireachtas on aid and related issues with a particular focus on women's rights
  • Engaging Member of the European Parliament (MEPs), Irish Ministers and civil servants to increase political support for overseas aid and campaign for an ambitious European Union budget for global poverty reduction
  • To engage ActionAid International and allies in Ireland on preparing for Ireland's presidency of the Council of Europe

 

Support to other advocacy priorities:

  • General political engagement on Palestine and other crises
  • Maintaining relationships with key political and policy stakeholders
  • Monitoring the Oireachtas and wider policy landscape to flag strategic moments for engagement or intervention
  • Supporting opinion pieces and short advocacy outputs as needed.

 

This is a short-term role for three days a week. Ideally the role will start on 30th March 2026 and end by the 2nd of June 2026.
