Job Title: Divisions and Member Groups Officer
Reports to Executive Director
The Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) is the national, professional body for psychology in Ireland, representing psychologists across scientific, educational, and applied practice. PSI promotes excellence in psychological knowledge, research, professional standards, and public engagement, and plays a key role in supporting professional development, ethical practice, and governance within a regulated environment. Through its Divisions, Special Interest Groups, and committees, PSI fosters collaboration, innovation, and leadership across the profession for the benefit of individuals, communities, and society.
Role Purpose
The Divisions and Member Groups Officer support and coordinates the Society’s Divisions and Special Interest Groups (SIGs), which are member-led structures central to professional engagement and knowledge sharing within psychology.
The role ensures these groups operate effectively, transparently, and in line with PSI’s Constitution, governance framework, policies, and data protection requirements. The postholder provides high-quality administrative, coordination, and governance support, enabling volunteer leaders to deliver activities that advance professional standards, learning, and collaboration.
This is a member-facing role requiring strong organisational skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work constructively with volunteers and colleagues across the Society.
Key Responsibilities
1. Governance and Compliance
Act as the main point of contact and administrative support for PSI Divisions and SIGs.
Support compliance with PSI’s Constitution, governance policies, and data protection obligations.
Coordinate annual reporting, officer elections, and governance documentation.
Provide guidance to volunteer officers on governance procedures, meeting practices, and role responsibilities.
Maintain accurate and secure records in line with GDPR and PSI policies.
2. Coordination and Communication
Facilitate effective communication between Divisions, Member Groups, and the PSI Office.
Support the development and delivery of annual work plans aligned with PSI’s strategic priorities.
Assist with the establishment, review, or closure of Member Groups, including emerging thematic groups.
Encourage collaboration and shared initiatives across Divisions and SIGs.
Prepare updates and reports for senior management as required.
3. Events and Professional Development
Support the organisation of CPD events, webinars, and conferences in line with PSI procedures.
Coordinate administrative, logistical, and financial elements of group-led activities.
Work with internal colleagues to ensure consistent standards, branding, and communications.
Promote inclusive and accessible engagement across professional and scientific interests.
4. Administration and Systems
Administer budgets for Divisions and Member Groups, including allocations, approvals, and reporting.
Maintain accurate records within PSI systems, including CRM and web content.
Support funding initiatives such as the Theme Fund, ensuring transparent processes and reporting.
5. Organisational Contribution
Contribute to the ongoing development of PSI’s member engagement and governance structures.
Provide insights on participation trends and emerging areas of professional interest.
Support PSI’s adaptation to the regulated professional environment.
Represent PSI professionally at relevant meetings and events, as required.
