The Role

The Head of Campaigns and Community Fundraising is a senior leadership role within Pieta's fundraising team. You will drive significant, sustainable income growth by leading national campaigns (including Darkness into Light) and community fundraising, ensuring they are deeply donor-centric and strategically aligned to Pieta's mission.

Working in close partnership with the Director of Fundraising & Marketing and the Head of Supporter Engagement (Individual Giving & Digital), you will provide thought leadership, strategic direction, and product / campaign development to maximise Pieta's largest supporter base and drive multi-million-euro income.

This role is for someone who can see the big picture, build innovative fundraising propositions, and inspire communities and supporters to make a lasting impact.

Pieta is undergoing a period of significant transformation, making this an especially exciting time to join. As part of this evolution, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Pietas fundraising with clear accountability for leadership, team performance, and driving results.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Partner with the Director of Fundraising & Marketing and Head of Supporter Engagement to shape Pieta's overall income strategy, driving innovation and sustainability.
  • Lead the development and delivery of Pieta's Campaigns & Community Fundraising strategy, aligned to overall organisational and fundraising goals.
  • Provide strategic direction to the Fundraising Manager and Campaigns Manager, ensuring clear focus on fundraising growth and supporter value.
  • Future-proof Darkness into Light, strengthening it as Pieta's flagship campaign and evolving it into a year-round movement.
  • Develop fundraising campaigns and activities to complement existing activity and diversify income.

·       Lead with accountability for the performance and outcomes of the Campaigns & Community Fundraising team, ensuring ambitious goals are set, measured, and delivered

Fundraising & Engagement

  • Deliver multi-million-euro income campaigns / strategies, ensuring strong ROI, retention, and long-term supporter value.
  • Work closely with the Head of Supporter Engagement to design integrated supporter journeys that convert participants into lifelong supporters.
  • Champion a culture of donor-centricity, ensuring every participant, volunteer, and supporter feels valued.
  • Use data and insight to inform decision-making, supporter journeys, and new opportunities for growth.
  • Strengthen Pieta's grassroots presence by deepening partnerships with communities, volunteers, and local groups nationwide.

Campaign Delivery & Oversight

  • Provide senior leadership and accountability for all major campaigns and community fundraising, particularly Darkness into Light.
  • Ensure effective planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, with a focus on fundraising impact and ROI.
  • Support the Campaigns Manager and Community Fundraising Manager in operational delivery while ensuring strategic alignment.
  • Lead cross-departmental collaboration to maximise campaigns across fundraising, communications, and services.

 

People & Culture

  • Line manage and develop senior managers, setting ambitious goals and ensuring accountability.
  • Build a high-performance culture that empowers teams while driving clarity of purpose.
  • Provide indirect leadership to regional Fundraising Officers and volunteers nationwide.

Collaboration & Influence

  • Work closely with the fundraising leadership team (Director of Fundraising & Marketing and Head of Supporter Engagement) to build Pieta's future income strategy
  • Partner with  the Communications team to ensure campaigns are visible, compelling, and brand-aligned
  • Collaborate with Pieta's clinical and support services, as well as other internal teams, to ensure fundraising activity is fully aligned with the organisation's goals
  • Represent the organisation to external partners, sector peers, and stakeholders
  • Contribute to executive and board-level discussions on fundraising priorities and investment

 

Essential Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive fundraising leadership experience, including running large-scale national campaigns and community fundraising.
  • Proven track record of delivering multi-million euro income fundraising targets with strong ROI and supporter retention.
  • Experience developing and scaling donor-centric propositions that drive both income and participation.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture while ensuring excellent execution.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with a track record of working across functions and influencing at senior levels.
  • Skilled team leader with experience managing senior managers and large indirect teams.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budget management and investment planning.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; confident at board and external partner level.

  • Experienced in reporting at senior leadership and board level on targets

Desirable

  • Experience in fundraising product development and scaling new income streams.

  • Knowledge of the Irish fundraising landscape.
