Role and Responsibilities:

Pieta is seeking to recruit a Financial Accountant reporting to the Finance Manager (Accounting & Reporting) This is an important position in the finance team of Pieta and will collaborate closely with all members of the finance departments and other stakeholders in the organisation. Duties will include, but not limited to, the coordination and production of monthly management accounts and departments financial reports. The role will include posting journals to the financial statements, maintaining and reconciling the general ledgers, ensuring complete and accurate financial records, accounting for and reporting on the organisation's income, assisting with internal and external audit work plus annual budgeting process and adherence to the internal controls and financial compliance requirements. Being able to work on own initiative as well as part of wide team is important. A strong focus on the internal compliance, control and governance environment is also required. 

Below outline the key roles, expectations and responsibilities of this position

•       Maintain and reconcile the general ledgers monthly.

•       Post journal entries for routine and non-routine transactions, including income, accruals and prepayments.

•       Responsibility for accounting and reporting the organisations income

•       Produce monthly finance reports to management

•       Produce departmental income and expense analysis reports

•       Report weekly KPI's to management.

•       Assist with supporting and coordinating internal and external audits including production of year-end financial statements

•       Assist with budgeting, cashflow, forecasting and scenarios planning. Processes

•       Ensure full compliance with all finance and organisational policies and procedures including suggesting amendments and/or additions where required.

•       Work with the finance manager and finance team to ensure best in class processes and controls are in place on a continuous basis.

•       Provide payroll support as required

•       Support other members on the finance department when required

•       Ad hoc duties / projects (as required)

Education, Skills, and Experience required:

  • Newly or Part Qualified Accountant with professional accountancy body
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in a finance function
  • Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise workload and to meet deadlines on time
  • General ledger management and reporting experience
  • Knowledge of current accounting standards and accounting systems
  • Advanced IT skills and working knowledge of MS Office
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Goal orientated with a proven track record of working with projects and delivering results
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative with a strong team and collaborative mindset
