SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Irish Red Cross is looking for a creative and highly motivated Digital Content professional to join our Communications Team and lead out on the content production for our websites and associated newsletters. The purpose of this new role in the organisation is to bring our story to a wider audience in a compelling way. It will involve a high degree of collaboration across the organisation and the various teams.  

ROLE RESPONSIBLILTIES

·      Gather, edit, and produce content for the Irish Red Cross websites, including our Register of Pledges, our internal monthly newsletter etc.

·      Working alongside Digital Fundraising Manager ensure all content uploaded to IRC websites follow best Web and SEO practices

·      Create new and update existing webpages on WordPress, in line with brand guidelines, including the Humanitarian Awards website

·      Liaise with colleagues from the Red Cross Movement around the world to source stories from abroad and share stories from Ireland for promotion internationally 

·      Organise, update and maintain a digital repository of all IRC content using a Digital Asset Management system

·      Liaise with IRC IT team and compliance staff to ensure the IRC website complies with GDPR regulation and is in line with organisational policies

·    Provide communications support for key events, meetings, conferences and programmes/projects

·    Work actively towards the achievement of the Irish Red Cross goals.

·    Undertake training and development as required

·    Abide by and uphold the Principles of the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.

·    Undertake any other reasonable work-related duties and responsibilities assigned by the Communications Manager that are consistent with the nature of the job and level of responsibility.

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Essential Criteria

·      Fluent written and spoken English

·      Excellent writing skills with at least 3 years' experience writing for digital platforms

·      Strong IT skills and experience with CMS platforms

·      Strong attention to detail and proven project management skills 

·      Experience in and knowledge of WordPress

·      Demonstrated ability to implement best SEO practices

·      Ability to produce content using software such as Canva and Photoshop

 

Desirable Criteria

·      Higher level degree in marketing, communications, English, and or web development

·      Experience in Keyword Research

·      Experience in Google Analytics

·      Experience in the charity/voluntary sector and/or with volunteers. 

·      Experience with Digital Asset Management systems. 

·      Experience implementing internal communications strategies in complex organisations.
