The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland (TDSI) is a subsidiary of The Donkey Sanctuary, an international animal welfare organisation, offering care and protection to donkeys and mules across the island of Ireland. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships. Our vision is a world where all donkeys have a good life. In Ireland, we need an experienced fundraiser and team leader to drive our income generation plans, so that we can help to improve the lives of thousands more donkeys who desperately need our help. The role would suit someone with an entrepreneurial mind-set, looking to make their mark through the growth of a department, and a charity, with huge potential. We are looking for someone with experience of successfully managing multiple donor journeys and who can steward a diverse fundraising strategy – from growing national- and EU-level grant funding and supporting our policy and advocacy work, through to activating hyper-local networks of community champions and creating memorable, on-the-ground experiences for our supporters. Competence in digital fundraising and direct marketing will be key to maximising engagement and developing our online presence as we seek to grow our audiences, nationally and internationally. This will require a 'test and learn' approach to fundraising and marketing, using professional standards of performance monitoring and reporting. We would be interested to hear from individuals who have a depth of experience in Irish philanthropy and major giving, who could execute creative ideas for growing income in this area through professional and corporate networks, high-value connections, and a passion for external engagement. As part of our plans to be a more active participant in the country's charity sector, this role will engage in relevant training, networking and development opportunities on behalf of the fundraising and marketing team, through sector networks and bodies such as Charities Institute Ireland and The Wheel. Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will manage a team of 10 across three sub-units: fundraising operations; visitor experience; and marketing, and play a critical role within our senior leadership team. Collaborative working with our UK parent charity's fundraising and marketing teams will also be an important element of this role; the successful candidate will be a natural communicator and relationship manager, capitalising on successful income and profile raising strategies and developing wider charity connections that will ensure Ireland is a core advocate of, and contributor to, the global brand strategy. Finally, a passion for animal welfare and an appreciation for donkeys' unique characteristics, as well as their status in Ireland, will be an advantage. Principal duties and responsibilities within this multifunctional and vital role will include: If you feel you have the qualities, skills and experience to fulfil this vital role, and would like to be part of the evolving programme of change taking place within the charity, we would love to hear from you. This is a Full-time, permanent contract working 39 hours per week. The role requires weekly on-site presence at our headquarters in Liscarroll, County Cork, but could be hybrid if the successful candidate can demonstrate an effective approach to remote people management. Closing date for completed applications: Wednesday 12 July 2023.
