Barnardos Training team wishes to expand a nationwide panel of appropriately skilled and qualified trainers, as contractors who will provide quality assured standardised early years practice development training on topics such as:
Training can be delivered via online webinars or in-person workshops, are mainly delivered Monday-Saturday, during the day and in the evenings, and support participant engagement and provide upskilling opportunities to a range of professionals working with children and families.
Essential Requirements:
Please demonstrate evidence of these requirements in your application form.
· A recognised third level practice qualification[1] (minimum Level 8 on the NFQ) in one of the following:
o Early Childhood Care and Education
o Social Care
o Education
o Social Work
o Youth Work
o Or related discipline (Nursing, Psychology etc.)
· A minimum of 5 years experience working within the context of Early Childhood Care and Education and/or School Age Childcare; knowledge of early learning and care services and relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
· 2 years' experience demonstrating specific practice knowledge and leadership in some of the practice areas related to the training topics above.
· Minimum of 3 years' training and/ or facilitation experience working with adults in an adult education capacity.
· Commitment to delivering standardised, quality assured training that promote the best outcomes for children and families.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· IT skills relevant to the delivery of online webinars.

Training and validation process
Applicants who are successful at interview stage, will receive induction training on the training content relevant to their practice experience. Guidance and support will be provided on Zoom to facilitate online training delivery. They will be observed delivering training as part of Barnardos Quality Assurance Framework to become validated as a trainer.
Please note
**This is not a full time post with Barnardos. It incorporates the delivery of training in a variety of locations nationally and at various times. Frequency will depend on the demand for Barnardos training from a range of organisations and demand per region. Trainers are contracted to deliver Barnardos standardised training programmes and will receive payment post-delivery of each training session once invoice is submitted. Trainers will be paid an agreed hourly rate of min €50 p/h plus expenses (mileage, tolls, etc) as per contract depending on duration of training event.
Application process
Application should be made by using Barnardos Training Application Form only by 5pm Tuesday 11th April 2023. When completing section 3 on Trainer Competencies, please provide evidence of your competency/practice examples in your answers and do not exceed 300 words per question.
Applications will be short-listed, interviews will take place in April/May 2023, followed by induction training. References/ Garda Vetting will be completed at this stage for successful applicants.
