Job Description: Trust & Foundations Officer

Role Purpose The Trust & Foundations Officer will be a key member of St. James's Hospital Foundation's growing fundraising team. The purpose of this role is to manage and grow income from charitable trusts, foundations, and institutional donors. With the Foundation's recent strategic developments, including a renewed relationship with the hospital and the implementation of a new CRM, this role offers an exciting opportunity to secure funding for transformative healthcare projects and enhance patient care. The role involves identifying, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with funders, ensuring alignment with funding priorities, and maximizing grant income to support the foundation's key projects and initiatives.

 

Key Objectives

  1. Secure annual income targets from trusts and foundations to support hospital programs and initiatives.
  2. Develop compelling funding proposals aligned with hospital priorities and donor objectives.
  3. Maintain and expand a pipeline of prospective funders through research and engagement.
  4. Establish strong, long-term relationships with current and potential funders.
  5. Work collaboratively across the Foundation team to ensure accurate reporting and impactful donor stewardship.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify trust, foundation, and institutional funding opportunities.
  • Write persuasive funding proposals and grant applications tailored to funder requirements.
  • Develop and manage a calendar of funding application deadlines and reporting schedules.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff to gather data and case studies for compelling applications and reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of funder engagement and income pipelines using the CRM system.
  • Prepare stewardship reports detailing the impact of funding received.
  • Represent the Foundation at external meetings and events, fostering strong relationships with funders.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven track record in securing income from trusts, foundations, or institutional donors.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, compelling narratives.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to identify and prioritise funding opportunities.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Team player with a collaborative approach and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for healthcare and a commitment to improving patient outcomes.
